Band Bios

Dave:
I started playing acoustic guitar when I was 20 yrs. old. My earlier influences were John Denver, James Taylor, Cat Stevens and The Eagles. I mostly played for fun and personal enjoyment. I thought of playing out in bars and such but kinda chickened out. I started jamming with Joe in 2001 and thought maybe we could play out as an acoustic duo. Then we started to get together with another friend and it developed from that. Soon John joined and brought Ken, who he had played with in the 70's. I never thought I would end up in a rock band. I bought a Les Paul and never looked back. The most enjoyable part is that we do all kinds of music and the guys encourage me to write some original stuff. Since we started the band, I think the Allman Brothers are the most sophisticated rock/blues band active today. I also find inspiration from Stevie Ray Vaughn and Eric Clapton. They both play with such an emotional connection to their guitars. Also, Johnny turns me on to some really interesting music/bands. We're always expanding our song list. We're like a big extended family that enjoy hanging and playing together. We're working on recording some original material to have something to show for all the miles we have been together. Look for the CD coming soon to our website.

John:
I began playing guitar at age twelve and began playing in little bands. At 16, I joined the Innosence Band, playing around southern Connecticut and clubs in NY State. Early influences were John Lennon and George Harrison of the Beatles and James Burton of Elvis and Ricky Nelson's bands. During the college years in Boston, I played in various pick up bands for parties and dances. In 1977, I moved back to Connecticut and switched gears to country music. Joined the Valley Express, where I met with drummer Ken Hafford, playing throughout Connecticut , the Harlem Valley, the Catskills, Westchester County and NYC. Left the band in 1984, and didn't really play again until hooking up with the boys in the fall of 2003, who were in need of a bass player. I filled that role using a bass found in the local transfer station, a little solder and it was magic.

Joe:
Growing up in the seventies, I was influenced by many of the great guitar players of the era. The list goes on forever, starting with BB King, Eric Clapton, Duane Allman, Dickey Betts, Jimi Hendrix and many more guitarists. I began playing in 2001. I started with 6 months of classical instruction to learn music theory and how to read music. My instructor moved on after 6 months and I hooked up with Dave. We were both working in the hospital and had talked about music. We started playing regularly, working mainly on blue standards, but there was some country, jazz and rock thrown in. It was during this time that the idea of playing out and a band began. Johnny also workd in the hospital and brought in Kenny. They had played together in several bands over the years. Now after 5 years, Maximum Dosage is going strong. We are a band of brothers with the common thread being good friends and a love of music.

Kenny:
I started playing drums in my teens with my brother Mark and a friend Ron Gregoire, great garage band, never had a gig. In 1972 I played with a country band the Mountaineers with John Veglia, Butch Barto, and Mark Hafford. 1973-1978? I played with the Midnight Riders which consisted of Lance Middlebrook, Dave Barney, Jimmy Connole, and Lyn Woodruff. We played top 40 country with lots of originals. We opened for the Hee-Haw Show at the Warner Theatre. We also opened for Cal Smith (Country Bumpkin). We played the tri-state club circuit. 1978-1980? I played with a band called Iron Mountain Cannon Ball with Dave and Chris Kaufholz and Gary Higgins. We called the style of music Berkshire Mountain music. We also played the tri-state club scene. 1981-1987? I played with a country band the Valley Express with Charlie Snyder, John Mathews, Bruce Carlson and Herbie Eastland. Our only claim of fame was 2nd place in the Seagram Sevens battle of the bands. We later changed our name to Borderline and did more country rock, playing the tri-state club scene. 2003-present I play with a classic rock band Maximum Dosage with Dave Miller, Joe Dedonato, John Mathews and Tom McAvoy who has since left the band. We do a lot of benefits to raise money for people in need and worthy causes. I'm at a point in my life where playing music isn't about making money or fame but for the pure enjoyment of playing. My goal now is to keep the beat and have fun and if we make money that's a plus.
